Ca. 1821–before 1870. Miller. Born in Lancashire, England. Son of Peter Slater. Married Sarah Nutter, 16 Feb. 1840, in Burnley, Lancashire. Resident of Whalley, Lancashire, 1841. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by 1842. Immigrated to Plymouth, Hancock Co., Illinois, via New Orleans, 27 Oct. 1843. Ordained a seventy. Appointed to counter “false reports” about church in Plymouth, 16 June 1844. Moved to Wisconsin Territory, 1846. Purchased land in Iowa Co., Wisconsin, 14 Apr. 1857. Resided in Waldwick, Iowa Co., 1860.
