Cahoon, Pulaski Stephens
Biography
18 Sept. 1820–15 Feb. 1892. Liquor merchant, shoe and boot retailer, harness maker. Born in Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., Ohio. Son of Reynolds Cahoon and Thirza Stiles. Moved near Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1825. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ca. 1830. Labored on Kirtland temple. Excommunicated, 1 Nov. 1837, at Kirtland; later rebaptized into church. Married Louisa Leopold, 9 Feb. 1840, in Adams Co., Illinois. Operated liquor store in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois. Labored on Nauvoo temple. Appointed auctioneer for Nauvoo, 1843. Ordained a seventy, by 1846. Moved to Melrose, Adams Co., by 1850. Listed as blind in 1850 and 1860 censuses. Moved to La Grange, Lewis Co., Missouri, by 1855. Died in La Grange.
