Blennerhassett, Richard Spotswood
Biography
9 May 1811–25 Dec. 1857. Teacher, lawyer. Born at Conway Castle, Killorglin, County Kerry, Ireland. Son of Edward Blennerhassett and Alicia Spotswood. Member of Church of England. Married Theresa M. Byron. Migrated to Upper Canada, May 1831. Moved to Attica, Wyoming Co., New York, where he taught school. Practiced law in New York, 1835–1841. Moved to Alexander, Genesee Co., New York, by 1840. Moved to St. Louis, 1841, where he continued to practice law. Served as alderman in St. Louis First Ward, 1847, 1848, 1850; and as city counselor, 1848. Died in St. Louis.
