8 Aug. 1808–13 Dec. 1886. Miller, miner, farmer. Born in New York City. Moved to Warren Co. (later Henderson Co.), Illinois, by 1836. Cofounded Shokokon, Warren Co., with Charles A. Smith. Elected justice of the peace in Warren Co., 1838. Married Mary P. Crane, 6 Oct. 1842, in Henderson Co. Moved to Yuba Co., California, by 1850; lived at Parks Bar and Long Bar (later areas near Sicard Flat), Yuba Co. Settled in Tammany Hollow, Nez Perce Co., Idaho Territory, by 1880. Died in Nez Perce Co., Idaho.
