Biography
22 May 1809–5 July 1849. Storekeeper. Born in Smithfield, Johnston Co., North Carolina. Son of Robert Gully and Martha. Married Jane Frelick, 9 Oct. 1833, in Johnston Co. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by 1842. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1842. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by 1842. Member of Nauvoo Legion. Ordained an elder, by 24 Oct. 1843. Departed to serve mission to Mississippi, 25 Oct. 1843. Ordained a high priest, 8 Oct. 1844. Left Kanesville (later Council Bluffs), Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, for Salt Lake Valley with Samuel Gully/Orson Spencer pioneer company, May 1849. Died from cholera while en route.
