Biography
9 Sept. 1808–4 Mar. 1847. Newspaper editor, schoolmaster. Born in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. Son of Richard Ward and Elizabeth. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by Dec. 1840. Ordained an elder by Parley P. Pratt. Moved to Manchester, Lancashire, England, by 1841. Helped publish Latter-day Saints’ Millennial Star, 1842. Served as president of British mission, Oct. 1842–Sept. 1843. Ordained a high priest by Parley P. Pratt, 16 Oct. 1842, in Liverpool, Lancashire. Appointed counselor to Reuben Hedlock, president of church in Great Britain, 11 May 1843. Disfellowshipped, 16 July 1846. Died in Everton, Lancashire.
