Biography
20 Feb. 1795–23 Oct. 1859. Farmer. Born in Greenfield, Franklin Co., Massachusetts. Son of Uriah Martindale and Chloe. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, by 1827. Married Harriet Gunn, 16 Apr. 1828, in Montague, Franklin Co., Massachusetts. Member of committee that intended to investigate origin of Book of Mormon and discredit JS as a prophet, 1834. Member of Old South Church, in Kirtland. Plaintiff in legal case against JS and others, 1837. Member of board of directors of Western Reserve Teacher’s Seminary and Kirtland Institute, 1839, in Kirtland. Died in Kirtland.
