Biography
24 Apr. 1781–10 Apr. 1860. Carpenter, broom maker. Born in Sheffield, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts. Son of Richard Jacobs Jr. and Elizabeth Kellogg. Married Elizabeth Hubbard, at Sheffield. Moved to La Harpe, Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1840. Purchased land in Hancock Co., 3 Nov. 1840. Published An Extract, from a Manuscript Entitled The Peace Maker, 1842. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ca. 1843. Had his name removed from church records. Rebaptized, Nov. 1845. Ordained a high priest, 11 Feb. 1846. Moved to what became Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, June 1846. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, arriving 10 Sept. 1850. Died at Salt Lake City.
