Biography
24 Dec. 1798–ca. 1838. Born in Stamford, Fairfield Co., Connecticut. Son of Jonathan Stevens and Olive Hiett. Married Sophia Coleman. Baptized, 1831. Ordained a priest by Oliver Cowdery, in Orange, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, 25 Oct. 1831. Probably moved to Jackson Co., Missouri, by 1833. Appointed to serve mission, 21 Aug. 1834. Ordained a seventy and appointed to Second Quorum of the Seventy, 1835, in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio. Ordained an elder, by Mar. 1836. Served mission to New York, May 1836–Sept. 1836. Stockholder in Kirtland Safety Society. Died at Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois.
