Biography
29 Mar. 1809–27 Sept. 1888. Clerk, teacher, merchant, lawyer. Born at St. Johnsbury, Caledonia Co., Vermont. Son of Levi Snow and Lucina Streeter. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Orson Pratt and Lyman E. Johnson, 1832. Ordained an elder by JS and Frederick G. Williams, 23 Aug. 1832, at Hiram, Portage Co., Ohio. Left to serve mission with Amasa Lyman to southern Ohio and Virginia, 24 Aug. 1832. Married first Susan Slater Lang, Oct. 1833. Migrated to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1834. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Appointed member of First Quorum of the Seventy, 1835, at Kirtland. Appointed to serve mission to eastern states, Mar. 1835. Practiced law in Ohio, 1839–1850. Wife died, Mar. 1841. Married second Mary Augusta Hawkins at Streetsboro, Portage Co., Ohio, 25 Aug. 1841. Appointed associate justice for Utah Territory, 1850; migrated to Utah Territory, 1851, and served as associate justice, 1851–1854. Ordained a high priest by William and Willard Snow, 20 Sept. 1851. Served mission to Australia, 1856–1858. Attorney general of Utah Territory, 1869–1874. Died at Salt Lake City.
