Summary
Located in west central part of state, about three miles from Illinois border and about seventy miles west of Indianapolis. Population in 1840 about 1,000. Population in 1850 about 1,700. Included Eugene village; population in 1840 about 400. Branch of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints established in township, May 1832. JS wrote members in Eugene regarding administrative matters, 2 July 1833.
