Also spelled Newburg. One of first townships to be settled in northeastern Ohio. Formed Oct. 1814. Population in 1830 about 870. Included village of N. Newburgh. Now part of southeastern metropolitan Cleveland. JS gave discourse in township, Feb. 1833, and visited township again, Apr. 1834.
