Angel
Summary
Being who acts as a minister and messenger between heaven and earth. JS taught that angels were individuals who “belonged to this earth”; those who had already lived on earth were often resurrected beings. In addition to giving instruction, direction, and protection, angels also witnessed earthly actions and ordinances. JS reported a number of angelic visitations, including visits regarding the discovery and witnessing of the Book of Mormon, the conferring of priesthood authority and keys, the implementation of the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, and the dedication of the House of the Lord in Kirtland, Ohio. JS taught that the Aaronic priesthood held the keys of the ministering of angels. He also taught that angels could minister to any who were faithful.
