Summary
A cobbler and wholesale shoe firm operated by John Varnum Ayer in Buffalo, New York, from 1835 to 1837. The Kirtland firm of Cahoon, Carter & Co. purchased shoes and boots from the firm in June 1836. By 1839, JS assumed the unpaid debts of the firm Cahoon, Carter & Co., including this debt. The debt remained unresolved by 1842, and JS included it in his bankruptcy application.
