KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That I Joseph Smith of the county of and State of am held and firmly bound unto Abraham Stevens—— of the county of — and State of , his heirs and assigns in the sum of Five Hundred—— dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, firmly by these presents.
NOW THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that whereas, the said —— Joseph Smith—have <has> this day sold unto the said Abraham Stevens a certain lot of ground situated, lying and being in the county of and State of , and described on the plat of the City of as being Lot No. 4 in Block No. Thirty one (31) and received in payment for said lot two notes of hand bearing even date herewith, for the sum of two hundred and thirty five dollars, and payable as follows. one note payable on the first of April <May> next for thirty five dollars, with the privilege of paying it in Corn, Meal, Flour or pork by the first of December next without use. And one note of two hundred dollars, payable in six annual payments of thirty three ⅓ dollars each with interest from this date— also Cash fifteen dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged—
with interest for each and every note to be paid annually.
Now if the said Abraham Stevens his— heirs, executors, or administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid, the amount of said notes with such interest as may accrue thereon, according to the tenor and effect thereof, when due, I the said Joseph Smith bind myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, to make or cause to be made, a good and sufficient Deed for the above described lot <Eighteen years from this date—> and then this Bond to become null and void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue.
