specified was duly demanded by the said plaintiff of the said defendant according to the tenor and effect of said promissory note.
And for that whereas the said JohnM.Ferris Joseph Smith in his life time on the twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three at theCity in the County of aforesaid made his promissory note in writing and thereby promised to pay to on order one thousand eight hundred and eighteen dollars and thirty five cents on demand and then and there delivered the said note to the said and the said afterwards to wit on the twentieth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight in <at> the County of aforesaid endorsed the same to the said Ephraim S.
