This Indenture made this fifth day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty four, betwen and wife of the said of the Township of , County of Geauga, and State of Ohio, of the one part, and Joseph Smith Junior President of the organised on the 6th of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty, in the Township of , Seneca County and State of New York, and was called the by a conference of the elders of said Church assembled at County of Geauga, and State of Ohio, on the 3rd. day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four, in trust for the uses and purposes herein after mentioned of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said <& wife of the said > for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred seventy seven dollars and seventy cents, current money, to them in hand paid at and upon the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given, granted bargained sold released confirmed and conveyed, and by these presents do give grant bargain sell release, confirm and convey, unto him, the said Joseph Smith Junior, and his Successors in the office of Presidency of the aforesaid Church, all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever, either in law or Equity, which he the said and his wife have in to or upon all and singular a certain lot piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in , Township No. 9. in the 9th range of Township, in the Connecticut Western Reserve, in the State of Ohio; and which is also in the County of ofGeau and is known as part of lot No. 30 in tract one, and is bounded as follows, to wit: Commencing at the south east corner of land surveyed off to from , 22 rods west of the centre of the road leading from to , thence 23 rods south, thence east 12 rods, thence north 23 rods, thence west 12 rods to the place of beginning be the same more or less, with all and singular the houses Woods, Waters, ways privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise pertaining. To have and To hold all and singular the before mentioned and described lot, peice or parcel of land, situated lying and being as aforesaid together with all and singular the houses and privileges thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Joseph Smith Junior, President of the Church aforesaid and his successors in office, forever, in trust, for the use of the members of the church aforesaid, according to the articles and covenants of said church. And the said , and his wife do by these presents bind themselves and their heirs forever to Warrant and Defend, all and singular the before mentioned and described lot piece or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said Joseph [p. 477]
