whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personaly known to me to be the persons described in, and who executed the same, did severally acknowledge, that they had executed the said conveyance, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Maria Harris and Elisabeth Browette having been by me made acquainted <with> the contents of the said Deed, and examined seperate and apart from their said husbands, acknowledged that they had executed the same, and relinquished their dower to the premises therein conveyed, voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of their said husbands.
In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hands and seal this second day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty four.

This Indenture made and entered into this twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four between Joseph Smith, as sole Trustee in trust, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, of the county of and state of , of the first part, and of the and aforesaid, of the second part, Witnesseth, that the said Joseph Smith, party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty four dollars, to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant bargain, sell, convey, and confirm unto the said , party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of in the state of , known and described as follows, to wit: a part of Lot number one in Block number one hundred and fifty seven of the City of , commencing at the North East corner of said Lot and running thence South one hundred and nine feet six inches thence West six rods, thence North to the North line of said lot, thence East to the place of beginning be the same more or less.
Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Joseph Smith, party of the first part, his assigns and successors in office, the aforesaid premises, unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns against the claims or claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
