This Indenture made and entered into this seventeenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four, Between Edward Miles and Louisa [Miles] his wife, of the county of State of , party of the first part, and of the and aforesaid, party of the second part, Witnesseth, the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to me in hand paid, by the said party of the second party, the right whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents, do grant, bargain and sell unto the said all that tract or parcel of land known and described as follows, to wit;— a part of Lot No Nine in Block No three of ’s addition of in the county of in the State of , being thirteen Rods eleven links South of the North East corner, from thence four Rods South, thence eight Rods West, thence four Rods North, thence eight Rods East, to the place of beginning.
To have and to hold the above described premises unto the said party of the second part, his heirs, executors and administrators forever. And the above described premises unto the said his heirs and assigns, the said Edward Miles and Louisa his wife, against the claim or claims of all any and every person whatsoever will forever warrant and defend.
On Testimony whereof, the said Edward Miles and Louisa his wife, have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year above written.

I a Justice of the peace, within and for said , do certify that Edward Miles and Louisa his wife, whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are the persons described in, and who executed the Same, acknowledged that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Louisa Miles having been by me made acquainted with the contents of said Deed and examined seperate and apart from her said husband, acknowledged that she had executed the said conveyance, and relinquished her right of dower to the same, voluntarily, freely, and without Compulsion of her said husband.
