Know all men by these presents, That Nathaniel Case and Matilda [Case] his wife of the County of , and State of , have this day for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty three dollars in hand paid by of the County of and State of , Bargained and Sold unto the said a certain lot or piece of land lying and situated in s addition to in said and last mentioned, as will more fully appear by refference to the plat of said Addition, being the East half of that part of Lot No 69 Sixty nine in Block No Two in Said addition to the Town of to wit, the East half of all that portion of Land lying between Knight and Young Streets on the above named Lot and Block being more or less & being one half of the tract of Land as purchased by the said Nathaniel Case of Ethan Kimball by Deed on the 24th. Day of November A. D. 1842. To have and to hold the above described lot or piece of Land with all and singular, the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Nathaniel Case and Matilda his wife for themselves their heirs and assigns administrators and executors, will Warrant and forever Defend the title of the Lot or piece of land against every person or persons claiming by through, or under them in any manner or any other persons whomsoever. In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our names and affixed our seals this the Twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and forty three, Nathaniel Case Seal, Matilda Case Seal. Done in presence of us , Lydia Case, State of Illinois, ss.
I. a Justice of the Peace in and for said , do certify that Nathaniel Case and Matilda his wife whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed, and who are personally known to me, to be the persons described in, and who executed the same; did severally acknowledge that they had executed the said conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Matilda Case having been by me made acquainted with the contents of the said Deed, and examined separate and apart from her said husband, acknowledged that she had executed the same, and relinquished her Dower to the premises therein conveyed voluntarily, freely, and without compulsion of her said husband. Given under my hand and Seal this Twentieth day of January A. D. 1843.
