There is an entry recorded 20 February 1845 in the Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger for $1.00 for an order to Warren Smith dated 5 October 1844. There is another entry recorded 19 February 1845 for $3.00 for two orders to Smith dated 5 October 1844. There are two extant pay orders for $1.00 to Smith, either of which could correspond to either of those two ledger entries. Smith’s account in the ledger notes ten orders on collector dated 5 October 1844 totaling $23.00. This and the two other extant pay orders for Smith dated 5 October 1844 likely correspond to three of those ten orders.
