To the honorable city council of the city of we the undersigned would beg leave to represent to your honorable boddy That whereas we have been informed that has been fined before the Mayors court in Said for Selling spirituous Liquors in a less quantity than one gallon— and whereas the said informs us that he himself did not dispose or sell as was alledged and if any Liquor was obtained, it was obtained of Some other person— (as the complainant the only witness in the case stated) of his son or agent as he supposed— and whereas we are acquainted with the Said and do believe that he wishes and designs to keep inviolate the Laws and ordinances of Said , and that we have frequently been to and called in at the <said> es. and have not Seen, or heard tell of, any Drunkenness or intoxication about his residence caused by Liquors of his and whereas the said informs us that he is determined that Liquor shall not be obtained at his place neither by intrigue or in any other way, contrary to the ordinance of the said city of . We therefore would pray your honorable body wholly to remit Said fine and we your petitioners as in duty bound will Ever pray?—
