The People of the State of , to the of said . Greeting;
Whereas complaint has been made before me Joseph Smith Mayor, and <a Justice of Peace in and for> said , on the Oath of , that and Nathan Tener [Tanner] did commit an Assault and battery upon <her> , in said , whereby a breach of an Ordinance of said , entitled “an Ordinance concerning Vagrants and disorderly Persons” was also committed as she believes. These are therefore to command you to take the Bodies of the above named and Nathan Tener, and bring them forthwith before me to be further dealt with according to Law. And hereof make due return as the Law directs. Given under my hand and Seal this 17th. day of December 1842.
