Lamoreaux, Andrew Losee
Biography
17 Oct. 1812–13 June 1855. Ferry operator, blacksmith, mill owner, territorial representative. Born at Pickering, York Co. (later in Ontario), Upper Canada. Son of John McCord Lamoreaux and Abigail Ann Losee. Married Isabella Wilson Rogers, 12 Sept. 1833. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ca. 1836. Ordained an elder, by May 1838. Served mission to Ohio, 1838–1841. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1843. Ordained a high priest, 1843. Served mission to Indiana, 1844. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, arriving Oct. 1848. Settled near present-day Farmington, Davis Co., Utah, 1848. Operated ferry on Green River in present-day Wyoming, 1849. Elected as Davis Co. representative to Utah territorial legislature, 21 Aug. 1852. Presided over French mission, 1852–1855. Died of cholera in St. Louis while bringing French converts to Salt Lake Valley.
