Registrar in land office in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois. Moved to Carthage, Hancock Co., 1837. Hancock Co. recorder, 1839–1847. Married Hannah D. Hughes, 5 Sept. 1841, in Carthage. Member of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge; secretary of Hancock Lodge, 1843, in Carthage. Hancock Co. school commissioner, 1844–1845. Postmaster at Carthage. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., spring 1847. Mayor of Nauvoo, 1849–1850. Moved to Appanoose Township, Hancock Co., 1850. Moved to Topeka, Shawnee Co., Kansas, 1888. Died in Topeka.
