Biography

22 Sept. 1795–28 Dec. 1853 Born in Rutland Co., Vermont. Son of Lyman Clark and Parmela. Married first Mary Fenno. Moved to Antwerp, Jefferson Co., New York, by 1820. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ca. 1835. Married second Thankful Gill, before 1839. Moved to Commerce (later Nauvoo), Hancock Co., Illinois, by 1839. Ordained a seventy, by 1839. Served mission to England, 1839–ca. 1841. Appointed first lieutenant in Nauvoo Legion, 1 May 1841. Elected steward of Nauvoo Masonic Lodge, 29 Dec. 1841. Ordained a high priest, before 1842. Served mission to England, Sept. 1842–1846. Moved to Kanesville (later Council Bluffs), Pottawattamie Co., Iowa, by 1848. Member of high council at Council Bluffs. Migrated to Salt Lake Valley, 1849. Served mission to Hawaii, 1850–1851, and appointed president of mission. Lived in Springville, Utah Co., Utah Territory, 1851. Moved to San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., California. Died at San Bernardino.
