Smith, Jesse Johnson
Biography
6 Oct. 1808–1 July 1834. Born in Tunbridge, Orange Co., Vermont. Son of Asahel Smith and Elizabeth (Betsey) Schellenger. Moved to Stockholm, St. Lawrence Co., New York, ca. 1810. Married Sarah Ann Bennett, ca. 1829. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, after Oct. 1833, in Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio. Appointed to serve mission to eastern states, 1834. Participated in Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri, 1834. Died of cholera in Rush Creek camp near Liberty, Clay Co., Missouri.
