Biography
18 Dec. 1801–8 Jan. 1877. Physician. Born at Wardsboro, Windham Co., Vermont. Son of Paul C. Davis and Rachel Chapin. Married Rebecca Jane Sloan, 8 June 1823, in Ellicottville, Cattaraugus Co., New York. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, 1833. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, before 17 Aug. 1835. Ordained an elder, by 30 Jan. 1836. Appointed member of Kirtland high council. Ordained a seventy, 1835, at Kirtland. Appointed by JS to lead Kirtland singing school and choir that sang at dedication of Kirtland House of the Lord, 27 Mar. 1836. Died at Seville, Medina Co., Ohio.
