13 Aug. 1792–9 Aug. 1861. Carpenter. Born in Waterbury, New Haven Co., Connecticut. Son of Eliakim Welton III and Loly Barnes. Married first Wealthy Upson. Moved to Medina, Medina Co., Ohio, by 1820. Married second Rebecca Smith, 3 Mar. 1828, in Portage Co., Ohio. Moved to Montville, Medina Co., by 1830. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by John Smith, 23 June 1831. Ordained a priest, 1831. Ordained an elder, by 31 Mar. 1836. Moved to Clay Co., Missouri, by July 1836. Moved to Pike Co., Illinois, by May 1839. Married third Keziah Matilda Stephenson, 29 Aug. 1839, in Pike Co. Ordained a seventy, 1839. Appointed to serve mission to Kentucky, 1844. Moved to Knox Co., Illinois, by 1850. Died in Knox Co.
