Clinton County, Missouri
Summary
Located in northwestern part of state. Adjacent counties include Ray and Clay. Organized 1833. Plattsburg designated county seat. Population in 1840 about 2,700. Contained some small Latter-day Saint settlements, 1830s. During “Mormon War,” furnished several militia companies that assisted in expelling Saints from Far West, Missouri.
