KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That <we Lewis D[unbar] Wilson  and B[radley] R Bentley>  of the county of <Hancock> and State of <Illinois are> held and  firmly bound unto <Joseph Smith Trustee in Trust to the Church of Jesus Christ of  Latter Day Saints>  of the county of <Hancock> and State of <Illinois> his heirs <successors in Office> and  assigns, in the sum of <Fifty——> dollars, for  the payment of which, well and truly to be made, <we> bind <ourselves our> heirs, executors and  administrators, firmly by these presents.
NOW THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That whereas, the said <Lewis D.  Wilson and B. R. Bentley——>  have this day sold unto the said <Joseph Smith——  ——> a certain lot of ground,  situated, lying and being in the county of <Hancock> and State of Illinois, and described  on the plat of the <[Hiram] Kimballs addition to Nauvoo> as being Lot No. <29> in Block No. <9>  and received in payment for said lot notes of hand bearing even date  herewith, for the sum of <Twenty five——> dollars, and  payable as follows, with interest <The receipt of which is hereby acknowledged>
<The description of Lot or parcel of land intended in this obligation  is as follows, To Wit commencing at the North East corner of a  certain spring Lot situated in the South West corner of Lot 29  Block 9 of Kimballs Addition to the City of Nauvoo and running  West 10 Rods thence North 6 Rods thence East 19 Rods  thence South 6 Rods to the place of beginning, 60 Rods be  the same more or less.>
 
The interest for each and every note to be paid annually.
Now, if the said <Joseph Smith having paid Twenty five dollars  according to the tenor of this instrument> heirs, executors, or  administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid, the amount of said note with such interest as may accrue  thereon, according to the tenor and effect thereof, when due. <We> the said <Lewis D. Wilson and  B. R. Bentley——>  bind <ourselves our> heirs, executors and administrators, to make, or cause to be made, to the  said <Joseph Smith Trustee in Trust &c>  his heirs <successors in office> and assigns, a good  and sufficient Deed for the above described lot <on or before the twentieth day of  December A. D. 1842> and then this bond shall become null and void, otherwise to remain  in full force and virtue. Given under <our> hand<s> and seal<s> this <nineteenth> day of  <February> in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty <two>
