This Indenture made and Entered into. This Twenty fourth day of  January in the year of our Lord. one thousand eight hundred and Forty two  between Joseph Smith and Emma his wife. of the County of Hancock  and State of Illinois. of the one part, and William Law of the County of  Hancock and State aforesaid. of the other part. Witnesseth that the said  Joseph Smith and Emma his wife. for and in consideration of the Sum  of Seven hundred dollars. to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is  hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and confirm  unto the said William Law his heirs and assigns forever. all that tract  or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Hancock in the State  of Illinois, viz: Lot No. Three (3) of Block one hundred and forty  eight (148) of Nauvoo City. as described on the Plat of said City of  Nauvoo. Together with all and singular the appurtenances  thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To Have and To  Hold the above described premises unto the said William Law [p. 491]
