Jan. 1813–after 1900. Milliner, teacher, nurse. Born in Tioga Co., Pennsylvania. Daughter of Amariah Coburn and Rose Linda Lyon. Moved to Unadilla River area of Otsego Co., New York, 1818; to Greene, Chenango Co., New York, by 1820; to Guilford, Chenango Co.; and to Sanford, Broome Co., New York, ca. 1827. Joined Presbyterian church, 1829, in Sanford. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, June 1830, and joined Latter-day Saints at Colesville, Broome Co. Moved to Kirtland, Geauga Co., Ohio, Mar. 1831. Moved to Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri, July 1831. Married first Clark Slade, 1833, in Jackson Co. Moved to Clay Co., Missouri, 1834; to Far West, Missouri, 1836; and to Pittsfield, Pike Co., Illinois, 1839. Husband died, 1842. Moved to Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois, winter 1842–1843. Moved to Wayne, Ashtabula Co., Ohio, 1843. Returned briefly to Nauvoo, ca. June 1846. Moved to Espyville, Crawford Co., Pennsylvania, by 1847. Joined Methodist church, 1847, in Espyville. Moved to Meadville, Crawford Co., by 1850. Moved to Madison, Dane Co., Wisconsin, 1851. Married second James Brannon Finch, 19 May 1852, in Madison. Moved to Bellevue, Jackson Co., Iowa, 1855. Returned to Nauvoo, by June 1860. Married third James H. Ward in Nauvoo. Moved to Fort Madison, Lee Co., Iowa, by 1871. Married fourth Philander Austin, 4 Jan. 1877, in Madison, Dane Co., Wisconsin. Resided in Sun Prairie, Dane Co., June 1880. Published Mormonism; or, Life among the Mormons, her reminiscences of living among Latter-day Saints, 1882. Resided in Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois, June 1900.
