Biography

19 Jan. 1782–25 Aug. 1850. Millwright. Born at Guilford, Cumberland Co., New York (later in Windham Co., Vermont). Son of Joseph Peck and Elizabeth Read. Moved to Jericho (later Bainbridge), Chenango Co., New York, by 1812. Married Martha Long, by 1812. Baptized into Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Oliver Cowdery, 28 June 1830, at Joseph Knight Sr. farm, Colesville, Broome Co., New York. Moved with Colesville branch to Thompson, Geauga Co., Ohio, May 1831, and to Kaw Township, Jackson Co., Missouri, July 1831. Ordained a priest, by 23 Jan. 1832. Approved for high priest ordination, 25 June 1833. Relocated at Clay Co., Missouri, by Nov. 1835. Located in Far West, Caldwell Co., Missouri, by 1837; at Adams Co., Illinois, by Mar. 1840; and at Hancock Co., Illinois, by June 1842. Bishop of Nauvoo Tenth Ward, 1844. Lived at Jackson Township, Andrew Co., Missouri, June 1850. Died in Andrew Co.
