Male church members ordained to a priesthood office.1 Records of conferences occasionally listed the number of official members present.2 In March 1836, a gathering of priesthood quorums and councils met in the House of the Lord in Kirtland, Ohio, and approved a resolution to issue licenses to official members and to record their ordinations.3 On 30 March 1836, official members of the church met in a solemn assembly in the House of the Lord, where they participated in the ordinance of washing of feet.4 Official members sometimes represented their respective branches in church conferences.5
