I do not think the def[e]ndant <ought> under any circumstances to be deliverd up to — it is a matter of history that he & his people [blank] <have been murderd & drivn from th[e] state— he—> had better been sent to the gallows— he is an innocent & unoff[e]nding man the differnc [difference] is this people beleiv in prophecy & othrs do not old prop[h]ets prophicid in Poet[r]y & the modern in Prose—
