Probate Court, Lake County, Ohio. ToGeorge Frank Reuben Harmon and Guy Smith GREETING:
Pursuant to an order of the Probate Court, within and for said County, made the24th day of OctoberA. D. 1861, you are hereby required to proceed, and after having been duly sworn or affirmed, set off and assign towidow ofJoseph Smith Jrby metes and bounds,(or specially as of rents and profits, in case no division can be made,) one full equal third part in value of the following described real estate as her dower, to-wit:situate in the Township of in Lake County in the state of viz and is the same land conveyed to said Joseph Smith Jr decd by Samuel Canfield by deed dated Oct 1, 1836, and in said deed described as follows viz
known as parts of lot No 29, 41 & 42 as deeded to Samuel Canfield & is bounded as follows to wit beginning in the center of the highway lately laid out in the north line of lands deeded to Samuel Canfield, thence west 66 rods to a post. thence south 15 rods to a post. thence south 58o west 19 rods to the lot line. thence south along the lot line 8 rods to a post. thence east parallel with the north line 69 rods to the center of the highway thence bounding on the centre of the highway Northerly to Mr Youngs north west corner thence west 8 rods to a post thence North 8 rods to a post thence East 13 rods to the highway thence northerly bounding on the center of the highway 4 rods north & south to the place of beginning containing 13 acres of land subject to all legal highways
Also the following described real estate situate in said deeded by to said Joseph Smith Jr by deed dated the 4th day of January 1837. & therein bounded and described as follows viz
known as part of lot No 30 and is bounded as follows to wit on the south by land formerly owned by Isaac Moore beginning near the north east corner of said Moores land in the Center of the road leading from to & running west on the north line of sai[d] land twenty two rods thence North Seventeen rods to a stake marked No 1. thence East to the west line of the lot owned by the Methodist Episcopal Church Society on which their meetinghouse stands thence south to the south west corner of said Societies lot thence East to the center of the road before mentioned thence southwar[d ] to the place of beginning containing one acre and one hundred & fifty four & a half rods
and is the same land on which the “” so called stands
And that you in like manner upon your said oaths or affirmations, appraise said lands, subject to the dower aforesaid, at their true value in money, and make return of your proceedings herein, together with this order, to said Court, with all convenient dispatch.
