There is an entry recorded 18 February 1845 in the Nauvoo City Treasury Ledger for an order to Samuel Billings dated 22 August 1844 for $1.00. There are two extant pay orders for $1.00 dated 22 August 1844. One of the two extant orders likely corresponds to the ledger entry. Billings’s account in the ledger notes fourteen orders on collector dated 22 August 1844 totaling $23.00. This and the two other extant pay orders for Billings dated 22 August 1844 likely correspond to three of those fourteen orders.
