WE COMMAND YOU TO SUMMON David W. Mathews & Michael Barnes [Barns] if to be found in your , personally to be and appear before the Circuit Court of said , at the Court House, in , on the 16th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty 3 to testify, and the truth to speak, in relatiou [relation] to a certain matter in controversy, now depending in the said Court, between The City of plaintiff[blank], and defendant[blank], at the instance of the said Deft laying aside all pretences and excuses whatsoever, under penalty of what the law directs.
