Oct. 1813–May 1855. Court clerk. Born in Kaskaskia, Randolph Co., Illinois Territory. Son of Nathaniel Pope and Lucretia Backus. Married Eliza Douglass. Moved to Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, by June 1850. Served as clerk of circuit court, 1850. Died at St. Louis.
