Revelation, 31 August 1831

  • Behold thus saith the Lord by the voice of the spirit it  is wisdom in me that my servent John Burk David  Eliot [Elliott] Erastus Babit [Babbitt] should take their Journey this fall to  the land of Zion

This brief revelation is dated four days following JS’s return to Ohio after dedicating the site for Zion, the New Jerusalem, in Jackson County, Missouri. Appointing John Burk, David Elliott, and Erastus Babbitt to go to Zion, the revelation satisfied the 30 August 1831 promise to JS that he would recognize by revelation those who should go there.

John Whitmer penned this revelation at Kirtland, Ohio; the Church History Library acquired it in 1994.
