The declaration was inscribed below ’s affidavit, continuing onto the verso of the leaf. A praecipe was inscribed on the verso below the declaration. All three documents were enclosed in a wrapper on which a docket and filing notation were inscribed.
And thereupon the by his attorneys [David] Rorer & [Frederick D.] Mills, complains, for that the said defendant on the 14th day of September 1844, to wit at the County aforesaid a certain steam Boat, of the of great value, to wit the Steam Boat “Maid of Iowa”, of the value of two thousand Dollars, injustly detained from the said — Against sureties, pledges &C. &C— and to s Damages &C.
