Orson Pratt and several other members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles were traveling in the eastern United States in summer and fall 1843. They held meetings in New York and Boston and visited Saints throughout this region. While preaching, Pratt collected tithing and donations for the Nauvoo temple.
