I Know , & . In the neighborhood where I reside their Character for truth & veracity is very bad. Their oaths would not be believed <taken> where Joe Smith or the Mormon Church was Interested. I have Known persons to give up lawsuits, merely because Mormon witnesses were against them, because they could out Swear them. I heard say that he would Swear falsely provided it would be to the advancement of the Church or Kingdom. (This last answer was objected to by the pltff’s consel.) I was a pastor of the Methodist & Presbyterian Churches, and resided about five miles from the Mormons [p. [3]]
