Kirtland, Ohio, June 1, 1835.
To Whom it may concern:
We hereby certify, that the bear ers, Edward Partridge, bishop of the church of the Latter Day Saints, and Isaac Morley, an elder of the same, are personally known to us, having been faithful members of this church from its first organization in this state, and as men of piety, veracity and strict moral principles and virtue, we recommend them to all among whom they may be called, as such: we know they have been long tried with affliction and adversity, per secution and peril for the sake of that reli gion which they have espoused, and for those principles which they now seek to dissemi nate, and should any man, who may be of the like faith, be disposed to entrust moneys or other properties in their hands for the good of the poor and afflicted, or for any other purpose, they will find them to be perfectly honest and strictly responsible.
