In Circuit Court April Term eighteen hundred and thirty nine
, to wit,
The Grand Jurors for the State of for the body of of the aforesaid upon their oath present that Joseph Smith Jr , . , John Lem[m]on, , Amos Tubbs [Tubs] Absolem Snitchfield [Absalom Sentchfield], William Aldridge [Aldrich] , and . late of said , on the first day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty eight. with force and arms. at the County of aforesaid, did unlawfully, riotously, and routously, assemble and meet together to disturb the peace, of said said , and being so assembled, and met together, the dwelling house of one the dwelling house of one there situate, then and unlawfully, riotor riotously <&> routously, did breake and enter, and in and upon, the said in the peace of God and of our said . Then and there being, unlawfully riotously routously, did make and assault, and him the said, , then and there unlawfully riotously routlously did beat bruise and ill treat, and then, and there riotously routously and unlawfully did threaten the life of the said . in the peace of god and our said then and being as aforesaid. so that the said by reason of the said eivil & wicked doings of the said Dendants <Defendants> was then and there in great fear and [p.
