I Saw some of it myself, and got some of it for Some butter— he said they were to give him this money, and that he was to come in as evidence against these men (the Defendants)— This conve[r]sation was in last winter— I have known Daniels about two years— I was at marketting— he did not purchase any thing from me at that time— the money I got from <for butter> was before that time— I got 50 cents from him— at he told me that that was some of the money he got from the Mormons—

I have a brother named William Garrett who lives in — I know a Wm. Garrett who lives up towards but he is not my brother— Daniels said he was coming here as a witness— He told me that the was to pay him $300 also— He did not Say any thing about coming here to Swear to any thing that was not true— I was in with the when the Smiths were killed— knows nothing of the Guard at the Jail having blank cartriges in their guns— has never <heard> either of these Defendants say any thing about it—
