I resid in follow carriage painting— I am acquainted with [William] Danls & have known him for 2 years— Danls has said some things to me about being a witness against the men who killed the Smiths he came to my house on the 5 or 6th of July last said he was just from he said he had seen Jo Smith & both killed said he had got some mony from to bear his expenses he then took a hand full out of his pocket Some time afterwards he told me he was offered 500$ to go away— he asked me what I thought of it my answer was that I would devles [devilish] quick go I asked him who offered it to him— I understood him by of — he said he would stay— he said that he could get one thousand from the will says I suppose they kill you which I am afraid they kill you well says he my wife will get the mony its just as will I had no other conversations of any moment Daniels came to to see his mother in law I suppose— [p.
