I live in I follow coopering— I know [William] Daniels— I never worked in the same shop with him— Daneal told me on the 27th July last the first time I ever saw him— I asked him if he was not a son of the old man Daniels he said he was— said that he knew nothing about the killing the Smiths that he was in Augusta and had remained there untill about the 27th July and then came to with the after that about 2 months we got in conversation again he wanted to know why I workd so hard said there was no use in a man working when he could make plenty of money without work said that he had a prospect in view of making money without work and that he had received twenty dollars in a letter he did not tell me what his prospect was
I Did not know Daniels before he went to — when I first saw him I asked him that if he was a son of Old man Daniels— he said arrived there on the night of the 27th <26th> July 1844 he spoke of making 4 or 500$ by the speculation [p. [49]]
