before he got to my where I was stopped at his own house about 50 yards from [Samuel] Flemings he did not go on to Flemings was not traveling in a two horse buggy I took the horse myself I think to the tavern got in about sun down— I am not certain the sun was down— & Gregg separated about 50 yardes before they got to s house gregg turned off to the North towards his own house or stable I saw him from <at> his own window a moment after saw him no more that night— if & Gregg had come to Flemmings before dark in a two horse buggy I know I should have seen them if they had come after dark I might not— my house is Immediately opposite Flemings— I was keeping a store in my house there is two large doors in front of my house which are kept open in Summer and were open that day all the day— I remained about F tavern untill about 11 o clock that night I went from there on guard— some men had arrived there that evening and supper was all over before I left— this was after the regular— this extra supper commenced about 9 o clock it might have been later but I think— I watd upon the table Mr. Key and myself wated upon the company— I did not [p.
